Glisten Adventure Race (orienteering) - spring edition

Orienteering: n. A sport in which participants find their way to various waypoints in the woods with only the aid of a map and compass.

We will cover:

How to use a compass

Reading a map

Using a compass (included) to find waypoints

This will be a hands-on clinic so you will have the opportunity to practice what you have learned either by walking or biking to various waypoints.

What to bring- Comfortable shoes, sun protection, water, food, and bug spray

When: Sunday April 11, 2021    Time: 12:30 pm – 7:00 pm (pack dinner - grate over fire will be available) 

Where: PUTTING Glisten Fit into Google Maps seems to work best!    64 Norcross Rd, Berlin, NJ

Cost:  One Glisten Pass per participant-family members living in the same household can use a 10 or 20 Glisten Pass for everyone in the household. (Donation for compass is appreciated.) 

Under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult (1 to 3 ratio preferred).

BIO: Joe Winkelspecht

Joe Winkelspecht is a Technical Representative for The North Face. He travels around teaching about product and outdoor activities. Joe has been with The North Face for 7 years and in his current role for 3 years.  Joe grew up in the Scouting program and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. During his time in Scouting he earned the Orienteering badge and even spent time as a counselor during a Summer Camp teaching the Orienteering badge. He continues to use his skills in Orienteering to this day on various hiking trips.
